Preparing for our final exam

I've posted the questions for the final exam (the handout from class) on our Angel site, in case anyone needs it. I've also included the list of people who said they may want to get a study group together. If anyone wants to add themselves to the list, I'll set it up so that you can.

Remember to bring your list of blog posts/comments to the final exam session if you didn't hand it in yesterday!

Observing Picture Books...

During class this past week, I really wanted to point out that I enjoyed reading all the different types of books that were out around the room. By looking at other genre's it really opened my eyes to other books that I could possibly create an interest in. I had read that Three Little Pigs during our class session, and it really wasn't the same as the classic version. The one that I read had modified pigs and it just made me feel that it lost its originality. I enjoyed class this week but yet still find the roles just a little confusing. Anyone feel the same way...

Yes I totally agree. I am actually learning to really take the time to look at the detail of children's books-which is something I never did. I think now it's really good to read the stories a couple of times, once to take it in and the other couple of times to really understand the meaning, and the pictures/colors/words behind it. I also find the roles a little confusing, but I think we just have to take it week by week and focus on our role at hand. I think what's best is to really understand the role that's due in class next week and not to worry about the other roles until you really need to. Just take it step by step. But I agree, it's a lot to think about because we also want to think ahead on what's due for our other roles while trying to focus on the current one that's due next week.

yeah I agree with the role papers. They can be a little confusing but I think that after you go to class on Tuesday and see what others in your group wrote about and the different topics it will seem easier. I have also learned a lot about children's books and how for some the books you might have to read between the lines. One thing that I have found interesting is that some of these children's book in my option for not children. Mostly every book that our teacher has talked about does not match the age requirement to me. What up with that????

What do you mean by "age requirement"? :-)

I agree with how confusing the assignment is. I hope that I will feel more confident in my assignment after we meet, so I can compare what I wrote to other people in my group. I took a lot of time to read the book over and over again to make sure I understood even the simpliest thing. I hope that the assignment will be more claified once we have a discussion in class. But as for the amount of amazing children books amazes me because there is so much detail in them that go unappreciated. I enjoy looking and reading them and I hope to engage in more childrens literature.
