Preparing for our final exam

I've posted the questions for the final exam (the handout from class) on our Angel site, in case anyone needs it. I've also included the list of people who said they may want to get a study group together. If anyone wants to add themselves to the list, I'll set it up so that you can.

Remember to bring your list of blog posts/comments to the final exam session if you didn't hand it in yesterday!

Session 6: Voices... discussion; Sci Fi, Fantasy, and Folklore

During Session 6 we'll discuss Voices in the Park and begin talking about genre in children's literature. For class:
  • Bring a copy of your Voices... paper to class, along with your book
  • Read the Christensen article on fairytales and film. Come prepared to discuss whether you think children's text are "ideological"!
  • Read the chapters in C & G on folklore, science fiction and fantasy. What is distinctive about each genre? How would you evaluate each genre? How are they similar or related?
Also, remember to post your papers to the appropriate drop boxes!

I haven't forgotten about starting some poetry strands. I will soon!
