Preparing for our final exam

I've posted the questions for the final exam (the handout from class) on our Angel site, in case anyone needs it. I've also included the list of people who said they may want to get a study group together. If anyone wants to add themselves to the list, I'll set it up so that you can.

Remember to bring your list of blog posts/comments to the final exam session if you didn't hand it in yesterday!

Session 7: Comtemporary Realistic Fiction, Historical Fiction, and Midterm Prep

Hi,

Here are some guidelines to help you prepare for next session:

  • Read Chapter 7 (Contemporary Realistic Fiction) and Chapter 8 (Historical Fiction): How are the genres defined? What criteria might we use to evaluate the genres? What might be points of controversy around the selection of these texts?
  • Read MacLeod (1998): What does the author mean by "modern models"? What is gained or lost when they are included in literature for children?
  • We'll discuss the midterm in class. Please have your syllabus and print out the midterm rubric (on Angel) to bring to class.
If you are writing an Artistic or Personal/Facilitator response on Voices..., please submit it to the dropbox by 6 pm the evening before class!
